Like a man made sun, a triangular floodlight shines over an evening football match in north east London.
Lower league football venues, such as this one at Dagenham & Redbridge FC, make for a more intimate setting where fans are situated much closer to the pitch, unlike the cavernous modern stadia of larger clubs.
This late summer evening game features a 'Premier League 2' development squad match between West Ham United and Everton, the first competitive game of the domestic football season for both clubs.
In this painting I decided to keep visual details to a minimum by focusing primarily on the warm ambience of the stadium setting with its simple building structures, butterscotch sunset and brightly lit playing surface populated with players and assistant referee rendered in sparse brush strokes.
