A fledgling River Thames flows gently through a serene countryside near Kemble in Gloucestershire. From here it is a short walk to the river's official source. The descending sun made the fields glow a golden yellow which contrasted with the shaded shallow stream. It is difficult to imagine that, some 180 miles downstream, Tower Bridge spans this very same stretch of water.
